The Bonato Family

Winemakers since 1888

The Le Rive agricultural company is located in Negrisia di Ponte di Piave in the province of Treviso, in the eastern part of the Gioiosa et Amorosa Marca Trevigiana, 30 kilometers from Venice.

The intuition and foresight of the Bonato family's ancestors paved the way for their success in the winemaking industry, while a bond of passion, emotion, and tradition has continued their work to this day.

The significant investments in modernizing the cellar and renovating the vineyards confirm the dedication and passion for wine and the land of Father Gino and his sons Luigi and Andrea.

Quality is the only goal the Bonato family knows. A value earned through sacrifice, courageous choices, and perseverance. Quality we find present in the grapes and in every bottle.

Ecclesiastical documents date back to 1568 and date back to the presence of the “Bonato dei Bonati” family in Negrisia, a town with deep-rooted and ancient traditions in vine cultivation.

Witness the centuries-old mulberry tree, which still stands majestically sentinel over the cellar, an example of centuries-old viticulture in the area, with the “Bellussi Rays” of the Raboso vines clinging to the mulberry trees.

The Cellar

Excellence from the vineyard to the cellar

In the heart of the Marca Trevigiana, the Bonato family's winemaking history has developed and evolved.

The expertise of Luigi, an oenologist and agronomist, and Andrea, a sommelier , is complemented by the collaboration of a young and dynamic team. Research collaboration with Italy's leading universities allows the company to achieve the highest possible standards in both the vineyard and the cellar.

The passion for growing and selecting grapes, the expert processing and care of musts and wines, make this company a model of reference both nationally and internationally.

Highly specialized vineyard training systems, respecting quality, and advanced cellar technology provide the right tools for achieving excellent winemaking results.

A wide range of varietals diversifies the multiple lines of both bottled and bulk wines, allowing us to successfully address all market segments.

The ideal combination of the millennia-old Venetian winemaking tradition and cutting-edge technology guarantees superb results in wine production, maturation and refinement, bottling, and marketing.

All the vineyards are managed with training systems with limited development and low bud load with production per single plant of 1-3 kg, following the criteria in the phytosanitary defense of integrated production .

Minimal fertilization, computerized drip irrigation where necessary, spring green pruning, and a fully mechanized harvest allow us to quickly harvest and deliver to the cellar a product at the right level of ripeness and at an ideal temperature, even through nighttime harvesting, under the best hygienic-sanitary conditions, in temperature-controlled containers.

The Territory

The lands of wine

Our goal is to help spread awareness of the immense scenic value of the banks of the Piave, where tranquility and serenity characterize a beautiful natural environment rich in water, making vine cultivation a fundamental resource of the area.

This setting of wine and culture has been praised for millennia and is home to illustrious names such as Ernest Hemingway and Goffredo Parise.

The evolution of this territory is inextricably linked to the diverse soil conditions created by the Piave River, which, over the centuries, has shaped the stratigraphy of the soils of the Marca Trevigiana.

Thanks to the varied soils of the area, from the rocky hills of Valdobbiadene to the medium-textured soils characterized by the presence of alluvial silts rich in magnesium and calcium derived from the dolomitic rock, the flat lands of Negrisia are home to various grape varieties, from the fresh and fruity Prosecco to the full-bodied Raboso Piave, which finds its ideal habitat in these areas.

Raboso is a unique, indigenous grape variety that has characterized viticulture in the Treviso area for over 600 years, and the winery is a leading example of this. Prosecco itself, from the rugged and narrow hills of the Treviso area, finds ideal conditions here to express its most distinctive characteristics.

The Piave River, flowing sinuously amidst the greenery of the mountains, hills, and finally plains, uniquely shapes the contours of our vineyards, caring for the vines and their many needs, providing everything needed to enhance the grapes' characteristics.

Even in the vineyards of Friuli, the history of the winery remains tied to the course of water, with the Torre stream caressing the vineyards grown on its banks, in the municipalities of Pradamano and Pavia di Udine near Udine.
