Oggi, 21 novembre, vi raccontiamo una delle tradiz

Oggi, 21 novembre, vi raccontiamo una delle tradizioni più care ai veneziani: la Festa della Salute! Ogni anno viene costruito un ponte galleggiante sul Canal Grande per permettere ai fedeli di raggiungere la Basilica della Salute, edificata come voto alla Madonna dopo la terribile peste del 1630, che causò la morte di un terzo della popolazione. Ma la memoria di quei giorni si celebra anche a tavola, con la castradina, un piatto a base di carne di montone affumicata e verza "sofegada". Durante la peste, fu proprio questa carne, portata dai mercanti dalmati, a sfamare Venezia, diventando così il simbolo di questa ricorrenza. E, naturalmente, si accompagna con un buon calice di rosso! Alla Salute! 🍷 ---------- Today, November 21st, we’re sharing one of Venice’s most cherished traditions: the Festa della Salute! Every year, a floating bridge is built across the Grand Canal, allowing the faithful to reach the Basilica della Salute. This church was constructed as a vow to the Virgin Mary after the devastating plague of 1630, which claimed a third of the population. The memory of those times is also celebrated at the table with castradina, a dish of smoked mutton and slow-cooked cabbage (verza sofegada). During the plague, it was this meat, brought by Dalmatian merchants, that fed Venice, making it a symbol of this occasion. And of course, it’s best enjoyed with a good glass of red wine.
